I got this to help my teenage son with drinking water. He has P.O.T.S., its a blood liquid balance type issue. He basically gets really lightheaded and has heart palpitations if he doesn't drink A LOT of water. For instance, he will have to fill this container 3 times a day and drink it all to keep his levels right so he doesn't have so much lightheadedness issues.This water bottle is fantastic because it's leak proof so he can be a teenager with it and I dont have to worry about liquid dripping out of it.It's fantastic because it keeps his water cool for him. He can't chug it all in one sitting so this is a really nice feature, if he doesn't drink cool water then he chokes on it.This is a fantastic bottle because if it's ability to by carried. This is the grown-up equivalent of a Nalgene bottle. It hold 24 ounces of liquid and is triple-walled, not just a standard double walled bottle. The claim of 12 hours/hot/cold is accurate because ice water will last an ENTIRE workday and then some. In fact, if you like to enjoy ALL of your cold beverage, don’t add too much ice in the morning or you’ll still have a bottle full of ice at the end of the day. Of course, if you are going to work on hydration, fill it with ice water in the morning, refill it mid-day (yes, the ice will still be there) and get some extra fluids.My kids have been trying to encourage me to stay “better hydrated” at work. Plain old water is now replacing sugar free sports drinks (in the “will still be here in 100 years” plastic bottles). The product information also touts that “doesn’t sweat” which is an accurate statement and so nice because this ends up in a bag with paperwork, lunch, etc. Having a bottle damp with condensation is a non-starter. NOT putting that in my bag. 24 ounces is a reasonable size as well.
I have been using Contigo's for quite some time, and I like squeezing the flap and drinking but recently they have begun to leak. This Auryu is leakproof. However, when using the direct drink from lid there is no air supply to replace what you are sucking out of it. The only alternative would be to open your mouth and pour. So, that is why I am saying it is advisable to bring a cup along. That is especially useful for when you are loading it with scalding hot coffee. These multi-walled containers maintain the heat for many hours, and you could scald your lip because of it. With a separate cup to pour into you can then regulate how tepid it is. Meanwhile, with the main lid on there you could toss it on the floor, and nothing will leak.It is attractive, and slim enough to fit in even the slimmest car console cup holders so you won't be disappointed there. You have two lids; one is a complete seal, and you open it by unscrewing the lid like you would on a jar. The second lid screws on the top and has a separate nipple/pour spout that you also need to unscrew to take a sip. You could simply leave it unscrewed in your consoles cup holder and not have to unscrew it every time you want to take a sip. The opening is small enough that you will not get any splashes over even on a bumpy road. If you stop at your local fast-food franchise and get an ice-cold drink, you could immediately dump it into this Auryu and have a daylong cold drink to sip on.
